California Dreaming!

Did I really bitch about leaving Bend just 12 hours ago? We left Bend (in a cold drizzle) about 9:15 and literally did not see the sun/blue sky til we hit the border of California. Then it was like...ahhhhh! Sun, warmth and lovely Mount Shasta. The first place we stopped was a town called Weed (oh, we did stop at the required "border crossing". Yes, they have a border patrol and even had to inspect the inside of the BP's fridge for illegal vegetables). Weed is right underneath Mount Shasta and about the only thing they have going for them is thier name. Everything in Weed has to do with, well, weed! All the shops had shirts saying some variation of "I Love Weed". Yeah...

Arrived in Redding and the campsite about 3 and quickly fell in love. By the way, the temp was....

And sunny! We paid up for 3 days here at the RV park but by the time we set up and took a gander at the park and the pamphlet they gave us about things to do in the area, we pretty much agreed we will be here about a week. There are several national parks, several mountains (actually volcanos that have been active as recently as the 1920's), the city of Redding itself has a ton of cool stuff and even a winery nearby. Yes, I think we'll be plenty happy here for a bit. Besides, how can you argue with this in your "yard"...

Gosh, I love Palm Trees! For tonight, in honor of being in Cali, I opened my fav bottle of Zin from Klinker Brick (thanks to my sister for the awesome gift). I am going to go sit outside with shorts and Tee on and savor the moment.
